There’s nothing better than getting home from a successful shopping trip with bags full of fresh new clothes and a warm sense of achievement in your heart. Yeah, your bank account might have taken a beating, but the joy of walking around the mall, browsing all of your favorite designer brands made it all worth it.
Different shopping malls can give different experiences – some are full of budget bargain-stores, while others are home to the top-end designer boutiques, and the very best over-the-top malls are the ones we get most excited about…
The Dubai Mall, Dubai, UAE
As the world’s largest shopping mall, The Dubai Mall is certainly not one to miss if you ever visit the extraordinary city. It boasts over 1,200 shops and spreads across over 5,400,000 sq ft. That’s certainly a lot of space for you to shop til you drop! According to figures, it has over 8 million visitors per year, and this also makes it one of the most visited shopping malls, too. Shops you’ll find here include all the top luxury brands such as Rolex, Prada, Victoria’s Secret, etc.
Mall of America, Bloomington, USA
The name says it all really, doesn’t it? It’s considered THE mall of America for a number of reasons. In 2015, it became America’s largest mall, and all you have to do is take a peek inside to find out why. As well as having hundreds of stores, it also has an indoor Nickelodeon theme park – that’s right, a theme park – and as well as having a rollercoaster, it also has an aquarium, a cinema, and plenty of other attractions to keep you entertained.
Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong, Philippines
Opening up in 1991, the Shangri-La Plaza is still one of the grandest malls to visit. It is home to 300 stores over 10 different floors, so prepare to enter a bewildering maze of all the fantastic brands you love. Some of the upscale designers you’ll find here include Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren. It also hosts award-winning restaurants and five different movie theaters for you to choose from.
The Galleria, Milan, Italy
Although The Galleria may not be the largest shopping mall, it’s certainly one of the most beautiful. The building itself was built between 1866 – 1877, so it’s also one of the oldest shopping malls in the world. As well as browsing around your favorite stores, you can also gaze upon the stunning 17th Italian century architecture. It has four stories, which are full of the very best fashion stores, cafes, restaurants, and more!
Villagio Mall, Doha, Qatar
Villagio Mall is also a remarkably beautiful mall, but this one was built just 13 years ago in 2006. It’s certainly one of the most uniquely designed malls, with an aesthetic that’s based on Italianate architecture – it even has a Gondolian theme park that features a boat ride facility taking you through the intertwining streets of branded stores. Plus, there’s an ice rink which is where the Qatar hockey league play all their major tournament games.
Melbourne’s GPO, Melbourne, Australia
Melbourne’s GPO was opened in 2004, which re-purposed and converted the space of a Victorian Post Office built way back in 1867. Don’t let its appearance fool you – inside you’ll find a wonderfully modern mall full of some of the best luxury brands in the world. It’s a perfect example of successfully taking something old and rightfully bringing it back to life in the 21st century.
Do you ever need another excuse to go shopping? If you do – these malls here will likely encourage you to take a browse if you’re ever visiting one of these cities.
