They say that dogs are a man’s best friend, so why wouldn’t you want to spend as much time with your best friend as possible? While there are many cities out there that don’t have the time or the energy to deal with animals, you’ll be even happier to know that an even larger portion of cities are now become animal-friendly – especially when dogs are concerned. After all, who wouldn’t want to see pooches strolling along the streets or running through the park with their tails wagging? If you’re also the kind of person that loves dogs, then you should probably add these dog-friendly cities to your bucket list.
Toronto should be on your bucket list anyway, but you should definitely bump it up to the top of your list because of how dog-friendly it is. This Canadian city is especially generous to their furry friends during the summer months, as they open up the whole city to these four-legged creatures. They are allowed to roam any of the 60 off-leash parks in Toronto, and they can even head to the beach without having to worry about causing a fuss.
Although there are many stray dogs in Nepal, you’ll be happy to know that they are well looked after. Residents always make sure to leave out food for their pooches throughout the year, but things are turned up a notch during the festival of Diwali. During this festival, dogs are celebrated as though they are gods in themselves. They are adorned with flower wreaths and powder, and they are honored beyond measure. It’s an amazing spectacle to see.
If you’ve ever been to Amsterdam, you’ll know that it’s the kind of city where anything goes. From the infamous Red Light District to the coffee shops, it seems as though all rules are out of the window here. This works in the favor of dog owners, as there are so many beloved pooches that get to experience a fun and exciting life. They are allowed on any form of public transport (although you will need to buy a ticket for them on the train), and they can even sit in your basket as you pedal along the beautiful canals.
Tel Aviv, Israel
Tel Aviv is full of dogs, and this definitely sets our tails wagging. In fact, it’s been reported that there is one dog for every 17 people in this city – and that’s pretty impressive. Because there are just so many dog owners in Tel Aviv, the city has made it possible for these dog owners to spend as much time with their pooches as possible. There are so many parks and beaches that are open to paws of all shapes and sizes, and they even have an annual dog festival!
Portland, Oregon, United States
Portland is known for being extremely liberal, and it seems as though they want to spend as much time with their pooches as possible. Because of this, the city has made it even easier for them to do this. There are now countless parks for them to enjoy off their leashes, and a huge number of the restaurants, bars, and cafes in the city are dog-friendly. As if that wasn’t cool enough, Portland is a pretty awesome destination in itself. Is it time to book your flights?
